Judge Shaughnessy Murphy is honored to serve as Eau Claire County Circuit Court's Branch 5 Judge. As Judge, Shaughnessy believes it is his role to ensure that each and every person receives a fair opportunity to be heard and equal justice under the law.
Shaughnessy grew up in Eau Claire and attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School, Eau Claire Regis High School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
After clerking in the law office of long time Eau Claire attorney Erwin Steiner, Shaughnessy attended Gonzaga University School of Law. Upon graduation, Shaughnessy accepted an appointment to serve as a legislative counsel in the U.S. House of Representatives.
After five years in Washington, D.C., Shaughnessy and his wife, Katie, moved home to Eau Claire where he joined the law firm Ruder Ware, L.L.S.C. Shaughnessy is a graduate of the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Eau Claire Program and has been a contributing member of numerous community and UW-Eau Claire affiliated boards and organizations.
Shaughnessy is married to Katie Murphy and together they have two children.
